    Having the Multiple-Unit license is a great way to bridge the gap between the capabilities of the DM3 and other much more powerful locomotives. But, maintenance costs are quiet a bit higher.

    Every time I try to run one of these npc scripts, it tells me it could have been a scam and that it was a player made script and only gives me 1gc with no chance to hack- what gives?

      You haven't found your way deep enough into the corp script to locate the derelict accounts. You'll need to either find and use the password, or figure out one of the other subtle ways to find dead accounts. You'll know they are dead accounts because they look like, "uknown_jrttl_hwm123.pub_3o3t7u."

    And finished... just need to watch the additional bonus content. You really did an awesome job remaking this... To answer your question, to the best of my knowledge, you could not use blink in rooms, so could not jump that bridge on level6 Also did another minor modification to the reagents. Added "A bundle of Garlic", (and made one for each reagent type. Basically when you hit zero of one reagent either after casting r before leaving a reagents shop, my scrips reduce the bundle of appropriate reagent by one and adds 12 of the reagents in your inventory. For flavor, you can only obtain those "bundles" where the reagent sells for the lowest amount. By doing that it mimics the original game's reagents stocks you could technically carry by mixing spells ahead of time and still carry 99 of each one. I also want to say that I gained an immense appreciation of how long this project must've taken, so thanks a lot for all your hard work. Looking forward to Ultima 5 in the future.

    Really nice that gold is not limited to 9'999. However on the flipside, not sure those dungeon chests respawn in this remake... I remember farming some rooms in the original pretty early on just with remove poisons and healing spells to recover from traps, and getting well-geared pretty early off.

      They surely don't respawn in this remake. So if one wants to farm gold - it's to the random encounters. Now, if I was to re-re-re-remake this game the loot distribution would be taken into consideration to ensure that no random encounter grinding was necessary, leaving the players with a tactical choice of where to devote their funds, as that's typically where modern game design has gone. But, that design would also impact a bunch of other systems like reagents, food, etc. For this remake I tried to balance it such that minimal repeated grinding of a particularly lucrative dungeon room wasn't needed.

    If you go forwards into a station and want to leave the train there, you might not be able to get the loco out if it is a dead end. So I personally prefer to go in backwards and leave forwards, at least for shunting operations. And what you encountered with the occupied track is kind of a dead end situation.

    Played the original multiple times, I loved what you've done with the dungeons. You asked, I answered. It's just too bad you cannot have party members touch the orbs tho, I can understand it from a balance perspective, but if you wanted to, you could really beef up your party back then.

    Wait... Shepherds can cast spells in your recreation ? They certainly could not in the AtariST version (which made them even more useless), I had toyed with the idea of giving them insane magic evasion and resistance to debilitating effects (poisons, sleeps, slows, and anything "annoying"). But I thought the no magic was pretty interesting choice. Same for Geoffrey (I gave him 20% physical resistance in your mod, it's mild enough it does not make him OP, but he becomes the best tank). But Katrina just became far more useful in this remake for sure. As for Day/night cycles, you already have the code in for the deep forests tiles, just copy/reuse that code, and make it so items providing light also have their minimum radius of light (+1 for a torch, +2 for great light spell and street lights/lanterns). Don't know if that's possible tho. I think I'd be far more interested in an Ultima 3 remake with this engine myself, but I have no doubt you'll make U5 absolutely spectacular... but will probably sacrifice some of the battle strategies with halberds attacking over obstacles and things of the likes. U3 just molds itself very well to this engine I would think. Now that I think about it I really should finish my 256x256 version of the U3 world map. Making it in "Tiled" in my spare time, and almost done filling all the tiles, then I get to "upgrade" it with the U5 enhanced tilesets. But in retrospect, if you make U5 first... then you could port U3 into that U5 engine and my god... I think I can just die happy after that lol. See you around !

    Soooo... the first card you looked at for the cargo haul had the number of the train car(s) on it. Why didn't you go out, find the train cars you needed, do all your hookups first and then get your final cards for the haul?

    Officially started a game in the module today (I was trying to find a way to re-customize my lady avatar but couldn't find where to go to do it, so I gave up) Man your mod is brutal, okay I mean I reduced starting level to 2, and rolled a druid... then got Mariah... bad choice, should've gone for Dupré first. On the good side, Mariah is almost level 2 and I'm 75xp from 3 myself. No money for reagents early game hurts so much for Mariah. Things should improve soon. Loving it. Good dungeon run, I would use that money to get a wand for Mariah and spend the rest in armor for the 3 melee. Let's see what you do with it next episode !

    Hey I'm a bit late to this series so I hope your still working on it. But I really enjoyed seeing the full footage of the sailing! I also heard that there's navigation via reading the stars (or maybe that's a different game I'm thinking of?) but it would be really cool to see you do a voyage primarily at night and explain the navigation via stars :)

    My Dad is retired and loves to sail at a lake that's a little over an hour from our city. I've gone out a couple of times with him and am interested in learning a bit more.     Awesome LP so far. Btw, I fixed the xp curve for this project. All I did was fetch the "TDW Experience Curve Customization" (is first search result on my system), put it in your plugin folder for U4, and when ran the editor, added a new xp curve called "Ultima" with this in it -> "if (n <= 1) {0} else { Math.pow(2,n-2)*100 };" then in class assignments, select each class and assign the cure "Ultima". Made a new level 1character to test and had 0/100xp. Then loaded up the savegame in the abyss and one of the companions needed exactly 6400xp to reach level 8. Easy fix if you want to do it 🙂 Still learning that editor, It's not as intuitive as I thought it would be, but not as impossible as making a new game from scratch. Thanks for the vid !

    One thing I really enjoy about Derail Valley Simulator is the opportunity to do all the work centered around the main delivery, in addition to the delivery itself.

    A couple of things come to mind because I watched this video over a few days because I kept getting distracted. First thing is that you can *absolutely* do a three-room puzzle in RPG Maker MV/MZ that could had utilized all three major keys. Like a bridge with a chasm of which you cannot cross because the wind is too strong until you use the key item Bell of Courage to ring which would stop the wind. And the Candle of Love to light up the dungeon and so forth instead of just using images to depict each scene. The idea to keep using torches makes the Candle of Love completely pointless. It's better to make early dungeons dark, so when you finally get the Candle it effectively replaces all Torches by being superior, a clear upgrade! Likewise the Skull of Mondain could indeed been animated in being thrown by the Avatar off the ledge as well into the lava. I did that when I was toying around with RPG Maker MV in a FF3 recreation project ( _that then spiraled out of control_ ) where in a test room, I made it so that when the player accidentally bump into a rock, the rock starts sliding and then bounces down the mountain side, along with a comedic fashion of one of the characters scolding them for once again doing shenanigans. So you could absolutely do that! And then, there's the issue of the characters. In the end, they were superflous. Most of them end up as glorified mana-batteries, fulfilling no other goal than to just spam spells like Dispell Field or Cure Poison. I feel this is an issue with U4 itself for most magic users sharing the same spells. That's something I would had personally changed. Some characters like Shamino could have cross-over spells for being in the middle of all three while someone like Mariah would be hyper focused in one area. I would also had liked it if each road-block was more of a puzzle for the player to figure out what stone goes where. I enjoyed this and it felt inspiring to watch. Just a shame I can't download it because I don't have MZ, I have MV. Didn't see the point in upgrading to MZ really when it's barely an improvement over MV. A good job on this indeed! 👏

      These are all things I considered, actually. In game design, or in this case adapting existing game material into RPG Maker MZ, there's the ever present balance between three factors: staying true to the source material, modernizing playability with features and content, and getting to a fully playable game in a reasonable time.
